How a trip to Mangalore can actually rejuvenate you
Hola,
Some people hate to travel, as they like stability
Some are not concerned much about it.
Whereas there is one more category who are constantly thinking about travel.
No prize for guessing, I fall in the third category.
I started travelling since 2017 and since then I never looked back.
Some how managed to get leaves approved from my workplace so I can be on the move.
I would never leave a chance to travel. Before my trip ends, I would plan for another.
I loved the process for packing, unpacking and seeing a new destination.
Always saved money, so could afford my travels.
Travelling became part of my life. Something so special I couldn’t leave without. Why do I love to travel?
It is more than what meets the eye, it is deeper.
Travel really changed my perspective about life. I always believed success is important, but travel taught me that living your life being present is success.
Some people I have met on the road, have been so special. They have taught me so many things. From a kid who left college to pursue his dream to an elderly person who sold off his possession so he could be on the road. There are endless stories. Some of them really inspired me. Some of them really gives a new meaning to your life. You can learn so much from others.
It is amazing to see how different cultures shapes us to be different yet have the same values. All of us are unique yet very similar.
Travel showed me that you don’t need to own a lot of things to be happy. All the things that society teaches us that have a big house, own a car, earn a lot of money is a not true. You can be happy walking your own path. You can be live a life of richness by experiencing different places.
A walk on the beach, trekking a mountain, swimming in the river, bungee jumping, scuba diving or cliff jumping. I have been most present doing these things.
Even sit in nature and doing nothing can lift my mood.
There is no need to be in rat race, you can carve out a different path for yourself.
I love to get lost while travelling, being directionless. Taking help from people to reach a destination. This way you can find the place. There is no need to be dependent on technology. Asking people for directions is fun.
It is best when you are flexible in your plans, as you can never be perfect with your planning. I don’t believe much in planning (I do my basic research). It is better to experience things. A good traveller has no fixed plan and no intention of arriving.
Travel is never constant; you are always on the go. Moving from one destination to another.
It teaches you to face your fear, instead of stepping aside in name of convenience. You build an attitude that makes life more rewarding.
We get so lost in our day to day errands, that we forget to live life. Travel gives us that required break to look at life and go slow, enjoy life more.
One of the best parts of travel, you get to taste variety of foods. It will really a paradise if you are a food lover. The best way to experience food is to eat like a local. There is something about street food that a five restaurant can never fulfil.
You must constantly make decision while travelling.
I don’t travel to prove anyone anything. Travel is a not a rebellious behaviour against society.
When I look back over the years, travel have really made me wiser. The best gift it gave me is the confidence no matter wherever I travel, I can always return home.
Growing up with lot of insecurities, being dependent on friends to make decisions for me. I think I have come a long way where I’m not sacred to enter a new territory. I started believing more in myself.
Well there are so many positive impacts of travel but the best thing it has done to me is discover myself. Once I started solo travelling, it was a scary adventure at first. I got better with time. You must be out of your comfort zone. Talk to people and make friends. It is a joyride, few days being fun and sometimes you are facing your worst nightmare. In spite all this, enjoy the ride. You become better with each travel. You can handle difficult situations.
Travel has made me a better human being. It has made a student of life.
Thanks to travel, in the process of losing of myself, I have found myself.
Believing in yourself is on the best gift you can give yourself.
Before I go, I want to leave you with a beautiful quote.
“We travel, initially to lose ourselves; and we travel, to find ourselves. We travel to open hearts and eyes and learn more about the world than our newspapers will accommodate. We travel to bring what little we can, in our ignorance and knowledge, to those parts of the globe whose riches are differently dispersed. And we travel, in essence, to become young fools again- to slow time down and get taken in and fall in love once more.” PICO IYER,
This is Shekar, I see you in the next one.
Ciao.
